The Moral Meltdown of Modern America (and Why Virginia Might Be Leading the way)

I was reading an old Newsweek article about Jay Jones, Virginia’s new Attorney General, when I had one of those déjà vu moments—the kind that makes you sit back, blink twice, and whisper, “Lord, didn’t You tell me this already?”

Back in 2020, The Most High revealed something to me that’s been playing out like a slow-motion car crash ever since: the total degradation of morality.

Now, before you roll your eyes and say, “Here we go, another sermon,” just hear me out. Because Isaiah 5:20 said it first:

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness.”

And baby, that’s exactly what’s happening.

People aren’t just ignoring moral reasoning anymore—they’re waging war against it. They call it “outdated,” “restrictive,” “oppressive.” As if boundaries are bad for you. But it’s not just the wild-eyed radicals or the Twitter philosophers—it’s teachers, policymakers, politicians, even preachers. Everyone’s remixing morality to fit their own playlist.

We used to agree on a few basics:

  • Don’t mess with children.

  • Don’t trample on freedom.

  • Obey the law (or at least pretend to).

But now? Humanity is more divided than a Thanksgiving table after an election year. And as Mark 3:24 warns, “If a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.”

A Field Trip into the Fallout

Last weekend, I drove down Richmond Highway—past the Chuck E. Cheese, deeper into Virginia—and stopped by Walmart. (No judgment; even prophets need paper towels.) After that, I popped into the hair store across the street, then 7-Eleven for a quick snack. I figured, hey, I’ll get my purchases where the taxes don’t rob me blind like they do in Maryland.

But what I saw next was heartbreaking. Dozens of people, clearly battling heavy addictions, wandering the area like lost souls. One young woman asked if I could buy her a sandwich and a Slurpee. I did—thankfully had just enough. As I got into my car, I watched her share the meal with another person. That part warmed my heart—but the rest of the scene? It was devastating. There’s supposedly a homeless shelter nearby, but the level of visible addiction and despair was alarming. You can’t tell me that’s just “society evolving.” That’s moral decay made flesh.

When the Church Flatlines

The Holy Spirit told me back in 2020 that the state of the world is just a reflection of the state of the human heart. The Church, for all its Sunday noise, had gone spiritually bankrupt.

Mega Pastors fleecing their flocks? Sure. But only because the flock wants to be fleeced. People would rather buy a blessing than live a holy life. Titles like “Reverend” or “Apostle” have become more about branding than calling. So now, we reap what we’ve sown.

Enter: Virginia’s “Choice”

Virginians just voted for Jay Jones—a man who threatened to kill his political opponent’s family (kids included) and said he’d “piss on their graves.” This man now represents Virginia’s legal interests. And he’s not alone. Virginians also voted for Abigail Spanberger who think biological boys should share locker rooms and bathrooms with girls—because “feelings.” Meanwhile, the same crowd cheers when an ex-president, Brack Obama who’s married to a woman, pushes gender ideology like it’s a new flavor of Kool-Aid.

Virginia, I love you, but you’re spiraling. Fast. You’ve chosen leaders who call evil good and good evil, and that road doesn’t end well.

The Bigger Picture

All of this—the chaos, the confusion, the cultural collapse—isn’t random. It’s the consequence of what we, collectively, have allowed. But here’s the good news: God doesn’t need a crowd to make His move.

He needs a remnant. Maybe 144,000 of them. Maybe you. Maybe me.

So as the world keeps “progressing,” don’t be surprised when God shows up. The kingdom of darkness has had its fun—but the Kingdom of Heaven is about to reclaim its territory.
